TMJ Arthroscopy and Facial Pain Treatment

The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is responsible for jaw movements such as chewing, phonation and swallowing.

It is known that TMJ disorders, known as TMD, are multifactorial in origin and can cause various signs and symptoms, including pain, clicking and difficulty opening the mouth, with a major impact on patients' quality of life.

Non-surgical clinical treatment is the main therapy, however, some cases do not show significant improvement with conservative treatment alone and are candidates for surgical treatment.

Surgical intervention can be performed using TMJ Arthroscopy, a modern technique that allows direct action on the joint and offers the following advantages:

- Minimally invasive surgery (no scars);

- Quick execution procedure (20-30 minutes);

- Real diagnosis of the intra-articular condition (video images);

- Rapid improvement of symptoms and return to activities.

Currently, we are one of the main references on the subject in the northern region, with articles published on the technique in international magazines, in addition to teaching courses in Brazil and abroad.
